Hi, can anybody on here splice a winch rope?
it's a bit embarassing how i snapped it but don't fancy £150 to replace it.

End of rope splicing instructions for plasma here
If it's a mid rope splice tthen thats a bit different, not sure how to do that.
Somebody on pirate is though. try here
If it's wire then different technique. More detail required.

cheers, i think i can manage that, but it looks like my winch is nackerd, there's a lot of play in the drum and it's making some strange skreeching and grating noises, looks like the bearings have gone,
i like the sound of the new goodwinch TDS goldfish series,

My Ramsey winch motor was screeching and grinding like billyo so took it all apart to find the bush in the endplate completely worn thru', now being as Ramsey winches are/were American built I measured the bush in the arse end of a Chevy starter motor guessing they may be similar?.
They matched !!, all I had to do was carefully cut the Chevy endplate in 1/2 so the bush fell out.
I now have the old Ramsey sounding good although haven't had it under load yet.
Didn't spend any money just an afternoon in the garage……………perfect.
