I dont think that it is off topic at all. There are some issues for the club however, in my opinion.
1. Are we on an allowed road? Remember that OS maps do not show whether you are allowed to be there. There are ways of finding out, and I am a member of the wayfinder project, which aims to show what lanes you can be on. Individuals take the risk on driving a lane, not the club. In todays climate you can get reported to the police even when you are on a legitimate lane. Read the sorry link that is below. We need to be absolutely certain that you can be on any particular lane, as a sorry is not likely to cut it.

2. Group size. I think that we need to limit to groups of five or so vehicles.
I don't think that the club can do it "officially" but we can individually organise small groups to go out, and advertise the events on here. When I was in the forces we used to go on the lanes at night, which was fun and less likely for people to report you, cos they are tucked up in bed. We did that in a trip in leicestershire with Alex and friends.
In short, I think that if you are serious about finding where to go legally then becoming a member of http://www.glass-uk.org/ is essential to go green laning today.
