Results from this weekends punch challenge at Wormhough.
Well, what a day. Great to see so many people turn out for an event, even if some were from an invited club. Thanks have to be said first to quite a few people, Byron being the first for taking charge of this event in the absence of Trev, to Gaz for scrutineering, which was busier than expected due to the high turnout, and to Chris and Andy for marshaling. Rachel and Callum sorted out the punch cards so that they made sense, and fitted them to all the cars.
The punch challenge was great fun with 10 punches being set out in differing locations through the site. I must say that the positions were very well chosen, and a standard shiny could have enjoyed getting about 50% of the punches on the site, But the other 50% were pretty interesting, with the #2 punch by the river causing some problems, I had to pull a Suzuki out of the way before I could get that one myself
The punches that were set in the wooded section needed some bravery for a tubby RRC to get in for them. I managed to get the punches without too much trouble but that left me in the wooded glade sideslipping, and wobbling a driver side wheel in the air while the rest of it was deciding whether to roll onto the tree or not….
Having punched the loud pedal, I managed to get out of there unaided. which I didn’t expect, I must admit.
Punch#8 by the tree in the top paddock was actually much easier for a long wheelbase as I was able to stop next to the tree and gather the punch. I watched a few SWB struggle in that section as they were just slipping past.
There must have been some eagle eyes out there as I thought that I was doing well with my time but managed to only come in six with the punches.
The time trial in the afternoon by the river was a sight to behold with the felling of the tree by fireman sam in the mercedes G buggy, which changed the course for everyone. I am not sure who got the fastest time through that section, I ‘m sure that Byron will let me know.
Anyway the results of the punches are shown below.
For those that didn’t come you missed a cracking event with a friendly atmosphere. Look forward to seeing you next time.

Great event. The trial section was very entertaining, thought Mark’s RR was going to end up on it’s side at one point. There was loads of the site that was unused, perhaps on a less soggy day. Would like to do a weekend next time, I think the lads from the other club would support it as they seem to be from around Wormhough.
See you all at Holymoorside.
