Although the whole weekend was brilliant there was an amount of damage which we as a club haven’t seen for a while or at least at the same event.
The ’Carnage’ wasn’t a last thing Sunday job either as it started within the first couple of hours of Saturday at the waterfall!
I’ve had a good go at listing all the damage and whether it’s fully accurate or not shouldn’t really matter as this just gives us an idea
of what broke!
John allsop kicked it off below the waterfall with an ‘S’ shaped track rod and then blew a front shaft trying to make an exit.
It was quite a job to get the TD5 back to the pits.
Dave and Liam both broke the same rear halfshaft at the same time and of course it was both of them that ripped the snorkle off??
John Smith also lost his snorkle at some stage whilst he also bent the winch bumper ends along with a wing and the rear of the tub.
Phil broke a front shaft quite early on which sadly would not come out even with Shrek pulling on it!!
Dolly and Barnsley (these were the names I was given) really did manage to turn a short wheelbase landy into a long one and also
found that trees are tougher than any Landrover.
John Stanley’s Suzuki broke a spring eye, lost a shocker, sheared the rear prop off and stoved the side in when it fell over.
Josh’s Disco broke a trackrod end completely off, had to be fixed in the hole in the woods.
Shrek had a rear shocker pull thro’ which then took a tyre valve off.
Jim’s Disco had no damage although Jim said his wallet was damaged!!
Chris’s Landcruiser (Me) nil damage, it’s a Toyota…..
Steve’s series II came away unscathed which was nice for the oldest truck there.

Alright then I’ve left the best till the end
Ezz’s Warrior kissed a big tree in a big way on Saturday evening, head on, in the middle, bang…
The damage was extensive and substantial:-
Bumper destroyed, winch bent, yes the winch, radiators all pushed into the fan and the bonnet
and front end body structure mangled, Ezz could see the funny side and the repairs for Sunday
are also amusing but worked perfectly.

I also need to add that Gaz didn’t break anything possibly due to the fact that his Rangie was in Derby.
Stewpot’s Disco did survive as far as I know?
Now need Ezz to fill in on how the Warrior was re-built using severe inginuity!!!!!!

bashed and yanked the front end out, then robbed a rad out of a TD5 and cable tied it in, Simples

Humble pie eating time for me as the Toyota did slightly break on the A52 at Spondon just a week after Clyro.
At 60 mph suddenly the revs went up and I had no drive at all and the car started to slow down, after the usual row of swear words I pressed the centre diff lock switch and off I went again but fairly obviously in rear wheel drive only.
Later investigation shows a complete lack of splines on a front output shaft so quite likely Clyro did do some accelerated wear to the worn splines, so we can add this to the list eh.
