Good day out, brilliant field for camping on with good views of the M6 about
500 feet below, its one of those sites that favour’s ‘tough trucks’ or
buggies and not much ‘middle ground’ for pootling if you know what I mean.
Once down in the gully, boy are you in the thick of it.
Byron, Mats dog is called COOTER not what you’ve put mate!! (funny tho’)
I can’t wait to set up a speed section in the bottom of the field with the
emphasis on drifting round the canes!?, Brian seems fairly open on what we
come up with trialwise down there and expects the grass to be shall we say
transfered from one place to another due to the angle of the field,
and field based recovery from the gully(4x ropes totaling about 50′ to unstick young AKO and haul him up the side of the gully and out onto the field with the Cruiser.
I think Alex did a spectacular job today, Uncle Fester would have loved it,
especially if trying to give chase in the ‘G’.
Maybe the ground will be less soft next time but get those winches bolted on now cos’ yer gonna need em.
Of course theres the easier prospect of sitting up top with a beer and a pie soaking up some sun and those great views over what looks like the whole of Staffordshire? choices eh.

I could of sworn Matt said coon.Mind you it was windy and at one point I thought coon sorry cooter was going to get blown away.I have seen more meat on chicken McNuget.(I will edit the post)
The site as got some awesome views. It reminds me of Burton but on a much bigger scale as far as the gulley is concerned. But
Chris is right the site does lend itself to well preped trucks with winches, lets put it this way you would never put your Family 4×4 down there. There are some fun decents and drop off’s on the south side of the gulley but north side is winch territory but as got a some small play areas on top of the ridge.Getting up there is another matter. We cleared an entrance into the top of the gulley and ran the stream from top to bottom and cleared two exits and made a couple drop in’s. Bryan the site manager was well pleased with the work we accomplished in one day and asked us come back again over the easter Hols.He confirmed that our club as the reputation for extreme vehicles with extreme drivers and we proved it again. Alex’s driving was definitley extreme and shall we say very committed. All together a brilliant day cheers everyone.

I enjoyed the day out, as did Lucy. The blizzard I thought was a bit much for March but what do I know. I agree with most of what the lads have put above, if you are going to venture deep into that gully, winches and a cage are a must. With some thought though, a decent non damaging event could be held within the site, with the challenging bits being on the last gates, which is as it should be. I personally would love to hold a nav scatter event in there, I would put some high value points in the gully and surrounding, and mix it with some low value ones for the less agile of the vehicles (like mine!)
On a lighter note I was pleased with the way the RR hoiked Ako’s suzuki out of the gully when I got bored waiting for my winch zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
