To All Club Members
I have received information from a fellow club member regarding the use of Bonsall Quarry. Whilst we do not use this location as an official site for events, I am aware that many of you use this quarry for occasional play days away from club activities. Please review the following information and be aware of its implications.

Club Secretary
I am writing to you as the designated contact for your 4×4 club.
Could you please be aware;- and let your members know, that Blakemere Pit on Bonsall Moor (near Matlock) is now closed to 4×4 vehicles.
Whilst this location, a disused quarry, has never officially been a 4×4 venue, there has been a lot of reported use over the last couple of years or so, which has generated numerous complaints from local residents, walkers and horse riders. Many of the complaints have been in respect of the manner of driving of vehicles on the approach roads and country lanes nearby.
The owner of the land has now supplied a statement to the Police, making it clear that currently NO 4×4 clubs or individuals have his permission to use the quarry, and that he will support any Police action against them. It is now the intention of the Derbyshire Constabulary to prosecute any 4×4 drivers found in the quarry.
There is no suggestion that any of the 4×4 drivers using the quarry or driving in an inconsiderate/dangerous manner on the lanes nearby were or are members of your club. This e-mail is simply to advise you and your members of the current situation.
I would be grateful if you could pass this information on to your members, and any other local 4×4 club contacts you are aware of.
